It’s time to feel like your vibrant beautiful self. Yin yoga practices designed to support a healthy thyroid.
Your thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland situated at the base of the front of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. Hormones produced by the thyroid gland — triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) affect your metabolism, body temperature and heart rate, and have a major impact on your overall health.
Imbalance in thyroid hormone production (too much or too little) commonly creates symptoms like weight gain, lack of energy, puffiness, fatigue, weakness, irregular menstruation, hair loss, depression, joint pain, and can even affect fertility and ovulation.
Several small studies have been performed worldwide, pointing to the benefits of yoga on thyroid health, and its particular ability to decrease hypothyroidism.
Yin Yoga, when combined with the knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, can work to promote well-being and decreased stress in the body, as well as support Qi (energy) flow to the thyroid.
Traditional Chinese Medicine has 12 main meridians - or energy pathways - within the body. These meridians act as highways for energy flowing throughout the body. Lack of movement, high stress, improper diet, weight gain, and our external environments may affect that flow from happening consistently, creating stagnant or blocked energy, inflammation, resulting in various health issues.
The Yin Body Balance sequence is designed to be paired with your regular thyroid treatment, to support your overall thyroid health and nervous system so you can feel great daily.
